Shark Sightings on the Increase in Western Cape
South Africa is well known for its population of Great White Sharks. There have been reports of a recent demise in shark sightings off some of the more frequented waters of Cape Town and this has been worrying. However, it is not all bad news and while some areas have seen a drop in shark sightings, some are seeing a slow increase.
Great White Sharks: A Vanishing Act
One of South Africa’s leading publications the Daily Maverick has reported that Great White Sharks are as good as vanishing from our once shark-infested waters. This vanishing act by the sharks is forcing some specialist tour operators to make certain changes.
Man Unknowingly Swims with Sharks in Mossel Bay
Early in the morning on Friday, a group of divers was taking a few people out to go shark cage diving near Seal Island, off Mossel Bay, South Africa. The qualified instructors and guides were ‘chumming’ to attract great white sharks for viewing. Just then, one of the instructors shouted, “Hey, a guy is swimming around the island!”
