There is no better way to explore the wide-open golden beaches of St Lucia Estuary, inside iSimangaliso Wetlands Park World Heritage Site than from the back of a horse. Whether you are a novice or experienced rider this fun activity is for you.

Exploring the Bush and Wildlife (1 or 2 Hours)
Riding in the Southern Section of the St Lucia Wetlands Park, along the Eastern Shores amongst Wilde Beest, Zebra, Warthog, Impala, Kudu, Bushbuck, Vervet Monkey and the occasional Hippo and elusive Leopard with the possibility of distance Elephant, White Rhino and Buffalo. 

Beach and Bush Combos (2.5 Hours)Take a walk on the beach at the foot of the Worlds second highest vegetated dune range North towards First Rocks or South towards St Lucia Estuary. Whale season is between June and November when the Southern Right Whales frolic in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Observe their jumps and tail lobbing in the distance.

For the Avian lover there are 526 recorded bird species in the St Lucia estuary, iSimangaliso wetlands park. With the recorded number of birds in the St Lucia estuary, it makes for a perfect bird watching destination in this most important breeding area for waterbirds.

The wetlands, pans and lakes around St Lucia supports a rich diversity of habitat which gives rise to permanent residents, tropical and altitudinal migrants, nomads and long distance migrants.

Giant Kingfisher, Yellow billed stork, Yellow billed duck, Cape Shoveler, Pied Avocet, Pelicans, African Spoonbill to mention a few of what you can see.
