12/14 Day Kruger, Botswana and Zimbabwe Tour

Spend twelve or fourteen days exploring the best of Southern Africa on a whirlwind tour of South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. See the Panoramic Route, God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, Kruger National Park, Makgadikgadi pan, Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and Chobe National Park.

Your tour starts in Kruger National Park - home to 147 mammal (including the Big 5), 114 reptile, and 502 bird species. Enjoy safari drives with an experienced
Kruger National Park guide, giving you the opportunity to see plenty of wildlife. Leaving the camp in the Kruger, make your way through the panoramic route to the Blyde River Canyon. Visit God's Window, Burkes Luck Potholes, and the Blyde River Canyon viewpoint. Next, make your way west through South Africa to the border of Botswana where you will stay at a rhino sanctuary before heading north through the country towards the Makgadikgadi Pan and Chobe National Park. Your final stop is at Victoria Falls where you will visit the magnificent Victoria Falls National Park, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and enjoy a sunset cruise on the beautiful Zambezi River. Make our way through Botswana and Chobe National Park back to South Africa, stopping at an eco-lodge in the Waterberg along the way. 

Your trip will include your transport, the services of a driver/guide, select meals, and all accommodation.

Example Itinerary:

Day 1: Kruger National Park (South Africa)

Departing early from Johannesburg head off the plateau towards the Kruger National Park, stopping en-route for breakfast (own cost). Once inside the Kruger, be on the lookout for wildlife en route to our camp. After setting up camp you will have a chance to relax for a couple of hours before heading out on an evening sunset drive with your experienced Kruger National Park guide. This drive lasts between 3 and 3.5 hours, which gives you the opportunity to see plenty of wildlife. On your return, your guide will have dinner ready for you.

Day 2: Kruger National Park (South Africa)

Starting the day early you will head out on a full day’s open vehicle game drive with an experienced Kruger guide, who will drop you off back at camp in the afternoon.

Day 3: Blyde River Canyon (South Africa)

Leaving the camp in the Kruger, make your way through the panoramic Route to where you will stay for the night, the Blyderiver Canyon. Visit God's Window, Burkes Luck Potholes, and the Blyde River Canyon view point before reaching the lodge for the night.

Day 4: Kharma Rhino Sanctuary (Botswana)

Leaving early, make your way west through South Africa. Once through the border,  make your way to Kharma Rhino sanctuary for the night.

Day 5: Nata Lodge (Botswana)

This morning you will have a two-hour game drive in Kharma Rhino Sanctuary before heading north through the country towards Chobe National Park. The camp for the night borders on the Makgadikgadi Pan. The lodge is situated between the Makalala palms that are found in Africa. This afternoon you will enjoy a game drive in the Makgadikgadi Pan that your guide will organize for you, once back your guide will have your dinner ready.

Day 6: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Leave after breakfast today and make your way towards the Zimbabwe border post. From the border, drive another hour to the vibrant town of Victoria Falls where you will be spending the next 2 nights. C amp is situated in the middle of town, within 10 minutes walking distance of just about everything. Your guide will assist you with the bookings of optional activities. The US dollar is the currency to use in Victoria Falls / Zimbabwe.

This afternoon, visit the magnificent Victoria Falls National Park, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Falls are 1700 meters (1.1 miles) wide, making it the largest sheet of falling water in the world.

Later on today, head out on a sunset cruise on the beautiful Zambezi River, the 4th largest river in the world, and the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, with national parks on either side. You have a great opportunity to see animals coming down to the river for a drink, as well as a fantastic variety of birdlife. Elephants, zebra, blue wildebeest, rhino, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species are often seen. Obviously, hippo and crocodile are plentiful in this region. All soft drinks, wine, beer, and some snacks are included in the cruise.

Day 7: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Today is free for you to spend as you please. Victoria Falls and the surrounding areas offer a great variety of things to see and do. You will have plenty of time to explore the town, meet the locals, visit the African markets with their wide variety of arts and crafts made from wood, stone, and beads, or to relax by the pool at the campsite in the heat of the day. The Victoria Falls region is nicknamed the adventure capital of Africa for a reason. It is well known for its large variety of fantastic activities such as the best one-day white water rafting in the world, the 111-meter bungee jump off the bridge between Zimbabwe and Zambia, elephant back and horse riding safaris, flights over the waterfall, canoe safaris, fishing trips, game walks, abseiling, gorge swings and much more.

Day 8: Chobe (Botswana)

This morning you have some extra time to explore the town of Victoria Falls before departing for Kasane, the small town on the edge of Chobe National Park. You can relax for the afternoon or explore a bit of the surrounding area

Day 9 Chobe National Park (Botswana)

This morning there is an option early morning game drive (own cost), this time into the Chobe National Park, returning to camp in time for breakfast. This afternoon embark on a river cruise on the Chobe River, widely thought of as being one of the best river cruises in Africa. Apart from a huge variety of birdlife, you may also see crocodile, hippos, and probably even elephants washing and playing in the water.

Day 10: Elephant Sands (Botswana)

Departing late from Chobe make your way south through the country to Elephant Sands. Here you more than likely to see the elephants visiting the watering hole while you are enjoying your dinner

Day 11: Opi Kopi Eco lodge (South Africa)

Today make your way through Botswana back to South Africa. Once through the border, make your way down into the Waterberg and then onto the Eco lodge situated on top of the hill.

Being the last night of the tour your guide will prepare you a Braai(BBQ).

Day 12: Johannesburg-South Africa

After a late morning, make your way back to Johannesburg in time for your flight back home or your guide will drop you at the hotel of your choice
