Explore South Africa's Wine Farms Using This New App!

Exploring South Africa's wine farms on this innovative app is the definite way of the future

Hey guys. I was recently told about this incredible new app called Champion Wine Guide and I just HAD to share it with you. It makes exploring South Africa's winelands super easy and provides you with valuable information on each wine estate.

If you're anything like me, I suck at deciding where to go on a day's excursion. I may know that I want to go somewhere and do something, but I can never decide where or what! Champion Wine Guide will make your life 100 times more easy if you're into visiting wine farms but struggle to choose which one to visit (because there are just sooo many in South Africa).

So after being told about Champion Wine Guide, I immediately installed it on my phone to check it all out. The app has a brief About section which is very interesting: The app was created by the World Wide Fund for Nature South Africa (WWF-SA), for wine farms in the Western Cape province of South Africa. WWF-SA and 38 wine farms in the Western Cape work towards protecting endangered environments and animals while upholding the highest standards of wine production and sustainable farming. Only environmentally friendly wine farms are listed on this app. What a great concept to drive more wine estates towards going greener!

On this app, you will find wine farms that are near to your location, that have wildlife habitats, eco-tours/nature walks, bike routes, restaurants and accommodation. On each wine farm that you click on, you will be given an informative write-up about the surroundings, activities, address, opening hours as well as their contact details. How AWESOME is that?

To make this already awesome concept even awesomerrr, they have a Specials section where you can see all the current promotions or competitions being run by the listed wine farms. I have literally just finished entering into a competition to stand a chance of winning a seasonal picnic from Spier Farm Kitchen valued at R880 for 2 adults and 2 children, including a bottle of Spier Signature wine!

I must say that Champion Wine Guide is really easy to navigate and most importantly, it is informative. If you love wine farms, why not download it on your Android or iOS device? If you have already downloaded the app, do you find it useful?

City of Cape Town Relaxes Water Restrictions as Dam Levels Rise

by Shannon De Kock November 30, 2018

Relaxation of  water restrictions.

Dams supplying Cape Town are at 71% capacity, compared with 36% a year ago. As a result, the City of Cape Town will relax water restrictions as of Saturday, 1 December 2018. Residents will now be allowed to use 105 litres a day, per person. While locals are encouraged to keep their water-saving habits, no doubt the City of Cape Town hopes that the new limit will further increase tourism this summer season.
