Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary has won numerous awards for being a truly mesmerising experience while giving these beautiful animals a second chance at life. These animals come from a background of captivity in zoos, canned hunting and other inhumane conditions. Jukani aims to provide an environment that's as natural as possible, allowing these animals dignity while being safely looked after. Monkeyland is located just outside Plettenberg Bay in the area known as The Crags on the Garden Route of the Western Cape of South Africa. Take a walk through Monkeyland and explore this massive forest with its amazing monkeys! The forest measure 550 hectares, the size of a rugby or soccer field.
These monkeys have been rescued or adopted out of zoos and other captive lifestyles. Monkeyland aims to rehabilitate these animals for a life as close as possible to what they would enjoy in the wild.
Birds of Eden is a sanctuary for rescued birds that were pets or kept in zoos and other forms of captivity. The 2-hectare dome spans over an indigenous forest and is home to over 220 bird species totalling over 3,500! Go for a self-guided walk or request a tour guide.
