Experience Township life and learn about its vibrant history and legacy in Cape Town, South Africa

  • Discover and explore the legendary District Six area as well as travel to two prosperous townships; Langa and Kayalitsha
  • Learn the history behind District Six; one of the most famous Apartheid areas due to its forced removals of 60 000 people in the 1970s. The District Six Museum is a fantastic place to learn the tragic yet colourful history of this iconic South African area
  • Visit Kayalitsha (Xhosa for 'New Home') which was originally formed during Apartheid. In 1985, the residents from District Six and other areas were forced to move to this area. It is the fastest growing township in the Cape 
  • Visit Langa; another area formed from the relocation of residents in forced removal. Though these areas have troubled pasts, Kayalitsha and Langa retain a strong sense of culture, with a vibrant community atmosphere and plenty of food, entertainment and enterprise
  • This tour is not to be missed! The people you meet will leave you with a new and better understanding of the South African ‘ubuntu’, as they share a bit of insight into daily life in the townships of Cape Town
