Day 1: ARRIVAL IN UGANDA – ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO KAMPALA
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and receive a warm welcome by our company representative then you will be transferred to your hotel for check in. Depending on time of arrival, you may be given some refreshments, and left to acclimatize. There is an option of going for a city tour in Kampala or staying behind to relax while recovering jet lag. Briefing about your safari is also done today and final payments / checks if any.

Day 2: DRIVE FROM KAMPALA TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
We will depart from Kampala at about 8:00am and head west via Fort Portal to Kibale National Park, with an en route stop for lunch. This town of Fort Portal rests in the shadow of “Mountains of the Moon” and is famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to Kibale National Park, while passing the region of the Crater Lakes – stunning beauty will unfold from here as well. Before heading to your lodge you will explore the small lakes then continue to check in at your lodge.

Day 3: FULL DAY IN KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Chimp tracking will be done today accompanied with the varieties the forest has to offer. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others.

This walk may last up to half day allowing you to return for a hearty lunch and for the afternoon some clients may opt to stay behind enjoying birding on their own in the forest and lodge surroundings or we transfer to the Bigodi Swamp for another but totally different nature walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates.

Day 4: TRANSFER FROM KIBALE NATIONAL PARK TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Get a relaxed breakfast then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Early in the morning you can enjoy the majestic Rwenzori Mountains in its full glory, where you will have a guided nature walk at the foothills and have a glimpse of the village life. Then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, with lunch en-route.

Dinner and overnight options are Mweya Safari Lodge for Luxury or Mweya Hostels for Budget (FB).

Day 5: FULL DAY IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Early coffee then begin your day by heading for the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs where we may be lucky to spot some lions and leopards hunting. We will also look out for elephants and other wild animals in their natural habitat. Return for lunch and in the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which gives you the opportunity to enjoy some more of the African wildlife. The Kazinga Channel is the place where we find the highest concentration of Hippos in East Africa. It’s a highlight of the safari and a must do activity as well.

Day 6: TRANSFER FROM QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE

Early breakfast and check out with packed lunch but getting another Chimpanzee Tracking opportunity in Kyambura Gorge before we head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The Kyambura Gorge is famous for its view and Wild Chimpanzees.

Go in and search for the chimpanzees in Kyambura Wildlife Reserve which is a beautiful gorge completely covered with tropical rainforest. By late morning we will depart for Bwindi and enjoy our lunch en-route; arrive at the home of the endangered mountain gorillas early evening then check in for
overnight.

Day 7: GORILLA TREKKING DAY  

Early breakfast, then with packed lunch head for briefing about your gorilla trekking. (Subject to permit availability at time of booking) This is the highlight of your safari indeed. Today you will meet with the gentle giants of Bwindi Impenetrable National park!

With Gorilla Trekking the expectations are always high and these involve walking a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead or nothing like this, before you encounter any gorillas and so you must be physically fit. It’s definitely worthwhile observing the gorillas closely while they feed, play and relax and 1 hour will be dedicated to this moment before you return to your lodge.

Day 8: TRANSFER FROM BWINDI IMPERENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK TO KAMPALA
Early breakfast then set off back to Kampala, this drive is long indeed (over 8 hours) but clients are so rewarded with stunning views of winding roads and hills, then a stop at various sites like the Uganda Equator and also the drum center and many more. Lunch en-route, early evening arrival at your hotel.

Day 9: DEPARTURE AND SEEN OFF AT ENTEBBE AIRPORT

This marks the end of the ‘Primate Capital Wilderness Safari’ and the airport transfer of today will be given to you by our friendly drivers at the time of your flight. If the airport transfer is late, then we shall also offer you a chance for a city tour to shop for souvenir around Kampala and also take you to Kampala’s famous and historical sites then drop you off to the airport in time for your flight and see you off very well.

*Please note that gorilla tracking is dependent on the availability of tracking permits at the time of your booking. Gorilla permits in all parks are on very high demand and we advise that you book them as early as possible. However, should permits not be readily available for Buhoma Bwindi, it is possible to track on the other side of the rain forest, at Rushaaga, only 7 kms from Kisoro town in Nkuringo, or in Rwanda across the border.
