This hiking tour is a 5-day coastal slackpacking hike between Wilderness and Brenton on Sea. Traversing two nature reserves and including two canoe stages, this is the most diverse coastal trail in South Africa.
The ideal way to explore the Garden Route and escape the crowds is to join a 5-day coastal slackpacking trail between Wilderness and Brenton on Sea. This hike traverses the highest density of Pleistocene fossil footprints and is a unique product that combines forest, fynbos, marine, and archaeological wonders, crafting a trail that is appreciated by guests looking to learn about the remarkable processes which formed the current ecology of the region.
All the catering, logistics, and guiding are taken care of, making this a true hiking holiday. The standard coastal trail includes 4 nights accommodation and two canoe stages. On the first day, the trail starts at 09h00 with a briefing and finishes at approximately 15h00 on the fifth day, providing ample time to fit in with onward travels after the trail.
The departure dates for the coastal trail are selected to coincide with spring low tides so that the beach stages are walked on firm sand at low tide.
