13 Day Best of Namibia Tour

13 Day Best of Namibia Tour

Experience the best of Namibia on a 13 day tour. This tour includes visits to the famous NamibRand Nature Reserve, Sossusvlei dunes - among the highest dunes in the world - and Sesriem Canyon. Experience and photograph the stark beauty of Deadvlei, enjoy the rich history of Swakopmund, discover the Damaraland region and search for desert-adapted elephant, visit Twyfelfontein, one of the most scenic areas in Namibia, and finally, go on safari in Etosha, Namibia's premier game viewing destination.

Arrive in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city. In the capital's main street, well-preserved German colonial buildings are in sharp contrast with recent architectural styles. Depart
Windhoek and drive southwest to the Namib Desert. The breathtaking NamibRand Nature Reserve extends over 180,000 hectares of expansive sand and gravel plains
and endless stretches of grass savannah, with majestic mountain ranges and vegetated dune belts of deep red sand. The variety of flora and fauna is as fascinating as the colour nuances of the landscape. This area boasts some of the highest free-standing dunes in the world.  You will also visit Sossusvlei, famous for its towering apricot coloured dunes.

Move on to Sesriem Canyon before venturing along the coast to the town of Walvis Bay, where you can visit the lagoon to see the interesting mix of pelicans, flamingos, and other seabirds. At Walvis Bay you will also enjoy a memorable catamaran boat cruise where you can see Cape fur seals, heaviside, and bottlenose dolphins, whales, leatherback turtles, and sunfish. Continue north to Swakopmund which resembles a small, German coastal resort nestled between the desert and the sea. Activities such as camel rides, scenic flights, sandboarding, and more can all be enjoyed here.

After Swakopmund, venture north along the coastline, stopping over at the haunting remains of the Zeila Shipwreck before heading inland towards the scenic countryside of Damaraland. Explore the intriguing rock engravings of Twyfelfontein - perhaps the largest and finest collection of petroglyphs in Africa. You will also be treated to a memorable 4x4 excursion to search for game, including the elusive desert-adapted elephants.

Leave behind the beauty of Damaraland and head east towards the sprawling bushveld of the Etosha National Park. The Park boasts some 114 mammal and over 340 bird species. Wildlife that one might see includes elephant, lion, giraffe, blue wildebeest, eland, kudu, gemsbok (oryx), zebra, rhino, cheetah, leopard,
hyena, honey badger, and warthog, as well as the endemic black-faced impala.

Finally, the road leads you back south towards the capital city of Windhoek with a stopover at Okonjima, Home of the world-famous AfriCat Foundation. Drive to track one of Okonjima’s free-roaming collared leopards by vehicle and visit the AfriCat Foundation with an informative tour as to its origins, the programs it runs, and the state of conservation on Namibia.
