Detailed Itinerary

Day 0: JOHANNESBURG

Check-in at the Kenya Airways check-in counter 3 hours before the scheduled departure time as your flight from Johannesburg to Tanzania departs after midnight.

Day 1: JOHANNESBURG / KILIMANJARO AIRPORT / ARUSHA

Depart from Johannesburg on an overnight flight with Kenya Airways to Kilimanjaro Airport (departing at 01h15, arriving at 09h50). You'll be warmly welcomed by our friendly safari guide who will safely transport you in a comfortable vehicle to Arusha, the hub of Tanzania's legendary Northern safari circuit and home to Mt Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. Arusha is also one of the major coffee-growing regions in Tanzania!

Day 2: ARUSHA / TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Head off to Tarangire National Park, famous for its elephants and baobab tree, where you’ll enjoy a game drive featuring open Acacia woodlands, Baobab trees, swamp and the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem! In the late afternoon, you’ll head towards the town of Mto Wa Mbu ("Mosquito Village" in Maasai), the only place in Tanzania representing all 120 ethnic tribes.

Day 3: KARATU AREA / SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Stop off at Ngorongoro Crater (regarded as the 8th wonder of the world) in the misty Ngorongoro highlands, one of Africa's most beautiful regions! En route, you can visit a Maasai Village near Ngorongoro Crater at an additional cost. After this, make your way to Central Serengeti which is
famous for its excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities, incredible concentrations of predators and the Great Migration of more than 1,5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras.

Day 4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

We highly recommend an early morning hot air balloon safari (at an additional cost) which gives you an unforgettable bird's eye view safari experience of the Serengeti, before landing in the beautiful wilderness and enjoying a full bush-style breakfast, complete with fresh coffee, tea, fruits and champagne. Alternatively, embark on a full-day game drive and experience the greatest safari exhibition in the world – the great wildebeest migration with massive herds of wildebeest. You'll also get to witness big cats, elephants, buffaloes, gazelles, giraffes and crocodile-infested waters.

Day 5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy another full day in the Serengeti. You can either choose to do a game drive from sunrise to sunset, taking a picnic lunch, OR choose to explore more leisurely, coming back to the camp for lunch between your morning and afternoon game drives. Take in breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary wildlife encounters with your knowledgeable guide who shares insights about the ecosystem, animal behavior, and the park’s history.

Day 6: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK / NGORONGORO CRATER

Say goodbye to the Serengeti as you head back to Ngorongoro Crater to
enjoy an extended game drive along the crater floor (referred to as the Garden of Eden). The crater floor features a variety of distinct regions, including forests, swamps, lakes, springs, and open grasslands, all teeming with incredible wildlife. Encounter an eclectic showcase of African wildlife including rhinos, lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopards.

Day 7: NGORONGORO / KILIMANJARO AIRPORT / JOHANNESBURG

The time has come to end this unforgettable 7-day Tanzanian Safari adventure. Start your last day with breakfast with Kilimanjaro coffee before driving back to Arusha where you stop at the Cultural Heritage Centre (for shopping for Tanzania art, memorabilia, and Tanzanites), and enjoy a picnic lunch. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward Kenya Airways flight home (departing at 18h30 Tanzanian time, arriving at 00h15 South African time).
